Oswego State Pair Earns ECAC West Recognition

CENTREVILLE, Mass. – Eastern College Athletic Conference Commissioner Rudy Keeling announced the ECAC Women’s West all-conference ice hockey team for the 2011-12 season and two Oswego State players landed on the squads. Sophomore forward Megan Howe (Stratford, Ont.) and senior defender Kathryn Sbrocchi (Mississauga, Ont.) were both named the Honorable Mention All-ECAC West team.

Howe is tied for the team lead in scoring with 15 points on seven goals and eight assists. In conference action, she tallied six goals, including two power-play goals, one shorthanded goal, and one game-winning goal, and seven assists for 13 points.

So far in her career, Howe has recorded 34 points on 14 goals and 20 assists.

Sbrocchi, a two-year captain, has been the heart and soul of the Laker defensive unit during her four-year career at Oswego State, having appeared in 100 out of 101 possible games and a key part of special teams play.

This season she is the top scorer among Laker defenders with 11 points on four goals and seven assists. In league play, Sbrocchi posted four goals, including two power-play and one shorthanded goal, and six assists. During her career, Sbrocchi has registered 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points.

The fourth-seeded Lakers (10-13-2, 8-8-2 ECAC West) face fifth-seeded Neumann on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Campus Center Arena.
