NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Freshman Jordan Prophet (Brockville, Ont.) posted two individual event wins in the 200 freestyle (1:48.43) and 500 freestyle (4:56.97), but it would not be enough as the Oswego State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams lost to New Paltz by the scores of 125-77 and 126-79, respectively. Katie Maye (Sr., Binghamton, N.Y.) picked up the lone individual first-place finish on the women’s side in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.72.
Nick Dupree (Sr., Vestal, N.Y.) out-touched the competition in the 50 freestyle with a first-place time of 22.82 seconds. The Laker women’s 200 freestyle relay comprised of Ivy Lopez (So., Oswego, N.Y.) , Molly Heagerty (Sr., Fulton, N.Y.), Katie Russell (So., Rochester, N.Y.), and Katie Flood (So., Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) touched the wall in 1:45.55 for the one first-place relay finish on the women’s side.
Several men registered second-place results, including Tom Schmid (So., Liverpool, N.Y.) in the 1000 freestyle (10:50.59), Andrew Minnick (So., Latham, N.Y.) in the 200 IM (2:09.07), Adam Weber (Jr., Clarence, N.Y.) in the 100 backstroke (59.58), and Dereck Harmon (Jr., Clinton, Mass.) in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.29). The men’s swimmers also posted second-place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:41.68) and the 200 freeestyle relay (1:32.92). Members of the medley relay included Prophet, Harmon, Brandon Hatch (Sr., Plattsburgh, N.Y.), and Dupree, while the 200 free relay was comprised of Rudy Trosin (Fr., Walworth, N.Y.), Phil MacLeod (Fr., Liverpool, N.Y.), Weber, and Minnick.
The Laker women had four individuals post runner-up finishes behind performances from Lopez in the 50 freestyle (26.75), Erin Molloy (So., Canandaigua, N.Y.) in the 100 backstroke (1:06.60), and Delia Reed in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.28). Flood added two second-place results in the 200 IM (2:24.17) and the 100 freestyle (57.27). Molloy, Reed, Maye, and Ashley Rode (So., Hilton, N.Y.) teamed up to finish second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:59.51.
Oswego State returns to the friendly confines of Laker Pool for a dual meet against Brockport on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m.
