Oswego State Swimming and Diving Splits Against Brockport

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s swimming and diving team won 12 of 16 events against Brockport on Saturday, posting a 172.5-127.5 victory over the Golden Eagles, while the Laker women’s swimming & diving team fell by a score of 163-135 to Brockport. Jordan Prophet (Fr., Brockville, Ont.) was a triple event winner for the Oswego State men, while Katie Maye (Sr., Binghamton, N.Y.) and Katie Flood (So., Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) each captured two individual events in the women’s meet.

Prophet once again ignited the Laker men, as he posted wins in the 200 butterfly (2:03.94), the 200 backstroke (2:01.98) and the 200 IM (2:07.84). He also swam the anchor leg on Oswego State’s event-winning 400 freestyle relay, as he joined teammates Nick Dupree (Sr., Vestal, N.Y.), Andrew Minnick (So., Latham, N.Y.) and Rudy Trosin (Fr., Walworth, N.Y.) in a 3:17.98 victory.

Dupree and Minnick each placed first in a pair of individual events. Dupree claimed the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle with respective times of 22.20 and 49.46, while Minnick captured the 200 freestyle (1:50.32) and the 500 freestyle (5:08.01). Other first-place finishes came from Brendan Hatch (Sr., Plattsburgh, N.Y.) in the 100 backstroke (57.56), Dereck Harmon (Jr., Clinton, Mass.) in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.20) and Devon Chandler (Fr., Binghamton, N.Y.) on the 1-meter board (247.65).

In addition, the 400 medley relay quartet of Adam Weber (Jr., Clarence, N.Y.), Harmon, Hatch and Phillip MacLeod (Fr., Liverpool, N.Y.) combined for an event-winning time of 3:50.61.

Four Laker men provided runner-up finishes: Tom Schmid (So., Liverpool, N.Y.) in the 1,000 freestyle (10:49.46), Joe O’Brien (Jr., Middletown, N.Y.) on the 3-meter board (219.00), Weber in the 200 backstroke (2:08.19) and Harmon in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.57).

Oswego State’s women were paced by Maye and Flood, both of whom won individual events. Maye touched first in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.99) and the 200 breaststroke (2:38.14), while Flood boasted first-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (56.48) and the 200 IM (2:20.74). Beyond those two, Stacy Cich (So., Grand Island, N.Y.) led a 1-2 Laker finish in the 500 freestyle.

In the meet’s first event, the Oswego State 400 medley relay quartet of Erin Molloy (So., Canandaigua, N.Y.), Maye, Molly Heagerty (Sr., Fulton, N.Y.) and Flood came away with a victory, charting a time of 4:19.24.

Several swimmers helped the Lakers’ cause with second-place finishes, including Kasey Simmons (So., Cicero, N.Y.) in the 1,000 freestyle (11:42.24), Flood in the 200 freestyle (2:04.48), Molloy in the 100 backstroke (1:06.29), Delia Reed (Sr., Great Neck, N.Y.) in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.33), Cich in the 200 butterfly (2:32.63), Heagerty in the 50 freestyle (25.89), Laurie Jackson (So., Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) in the 500 freestyle (5:38.93) and Samantha Moss (Jr., Smithtown, N.Y.) on the 3-meter board.

The Lakers enjoy a two-week respite from competition before returning to action at the Fredonia Invite from Friday, Dec. 2, to Sunday, Dec. 4.
