The Oswego State menÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s and womenÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s swimming and diving teams recorded wins by the scores of 135-97 and 132-100, respectively, over Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon at Laker Pool. The Laker divers dominated the diving events as Eileen McMahon (Sr., Clay, NY) and Eric Messina (So., Latham, NY) captured first place honors on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. McMahon won the 1-meter event with a score of 244.85 and the 3-meter event with 229.00 points, while Messina tallied 267.25 points on the 1-meter board and 335.50 points on the 3-meter board.
Oswego State swimming and diving wrapped up the home portion of the season and honored 15 seniors for their contributions over the last four years at the start of the meet.
Other Lakers with multiple first-place finishes included Kelly Williams (Sr., Ballston Spa, NY), Keriann Earl (Jr., Weedsport, NY), Emily Plummer (Fr., Horseheads, NY), Kyle Lounsberry (Jr., Nichols, NY), and Kendrick Miller (Jr., Appalachin, NY). Williams touched the wall first in two individual events; the 50 freestyle (25.48) and the 200 back (2:20.53). Earl won the 200 IM (2:24.06) and Plummer took first in the 200 butterfly (2:28.25), and were members of the winning 400 medley relay. The relay, which was also comprised of Jackie Michalski (Sr., Chenango Forks, NY) and Leah Matthews (Sr., Youngstown, NY), posted a time of 4:23.46. Lounsberry had two first-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:51.85) and the 100 freestyle (49.03). MillerÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s wins came in the 200 backstroke (2:05.45) and as a member of the winning 400 medley relay (3:45.22). Other team members included Calvin Cheung (Jr., Hicksville, NY), Eric Dlugolecki (Sr., Liverpool, NY) and Adam Weber (Fr., Clarence, NY).
Other first places on the womenÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s side came from Nikki Dean (Jr., Lansing, NY) in the 1000 freestyle (11:05.81) and Molly Heagerty (So., Fulton, NY) in the 100 freestyle (56.64). The remaining first places on the menÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s side were from Nick Masia (Sr., Pine City, NY) in the 1000 freestyle (10:28.08), Nick Dupree (So., Vestal, NY) in the 50 freestyle (22.32), and Greg Donohue (Sr., Niskayuna, NY) in the 200 butterfly (2:12.26).
The LakersÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ final dual meet of the season is at Geneseo on Saturday, January 30 at 1 p.m.
