Oswego State Volleyball Drops Pair of Matches in SUNYAC Pool Play

GENESEO, N.Y. – The first day of SUNYAC Volleyball Pool Play proved to be rough for Oswego State as it lost matches to Buffalo State and Fredonia. The Lakers fell to Buffalo State 3-1 by the scores of 29-31, 25-23, 22-25, and 12-25 before being swept by Fredonia (20-25, 19-25, 21-25). Oswego State, which dropped to 5-11 overall and 0-2 in the league, looks to regroup against Brockport and host Geneseo tomorrow beginning at 12 p.m.

Outside hitter Katie van Kessel registered a double-double for the Lakers with 16 kills and 23 digs versus Buffalo State. Oswego State had two other players, Jess Isgro and Sabrina Sutton, reach double-digit kills. Isgro compiled 13 kills to go along with eight digs, while Sutton posted ten kills. Stephany Olsheski handed out 45 assists in the loss.

In the nightcap versus the Blue Devils, Olsheski led the way with 20 assists, while van Kessel contributed six kills and 13 digs. Isgro was right behind her with five kills, while Kelsey Ihle tallied ten digs and three service aces
