Oswego State volleyball team bounces back Friday

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team (2-2) bounced back from an opening 3-1 loss (25-14, 16-25, 25-22, 25-19) to host Potsdam by sweeping SUNYIT, 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-20), after the first day of the Victory Promotions Invitational Friday.

In Friday’s first match, Sabrina Sutton (Jr., Fulton, N.Y.) put away eight kills to lead the Laker offense, while Kara Michelsen (So., Lake View, N.Y.) handed out 24 assists. Michelsen also tallied four blocks along with Stephanie Bailey (So., Scotia, N.Y.). From the service line, Emily Walser (Fr., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) registered three aces. Kelsey Ihle (Sr., Clarence Center, N.Y.) recorded 14 digs in the back row.

Sutton was also one of the top offensive performers in the nightcap versus SUNYIT, as she posted a healthy stat line of six kills, eight digs, and three service aces. Junior Meaghan Puff (Newfane, N.Y.) paced the attack with seven kills to go along with two service aces. In the middle, Kelsey Dillon (Fr., Deer Park, N.Y.) scored four kills and five blocks.

Setter Brittany Jones (Sr., Lake George, N.Y.) ended the match with 23 assists, seven digs, and three kills, while Megan Dignan (Fr., Millbrook, N.Y.) contributed nine digs. Walser finished the contest with a pair of kills and digs and three service aces.

Oswego State will face St. Michael’s and St. Lawrence Saturday afternoon on the St. Lawrence campus.
