Oswego State women’s basketball team blows out Caz

Oswego, N.Y. — The Oswego State women’s basketball team used a strong first half to cruise to a 91-43 non-conference victory over Cazenovia College.

With the win, the Lakers move past the .500 mark with a 4-3 record on the season.

Oswego jumped out to an early lead in the first half with the help of Heather Hebert who nearly finished the first stanza with a double-double.

The sophomore transfer grabbed 10 rebounds while scoring nine points.

The Lakers went up by 15 when Lauren Nunziato nailed a 3-pointer with just over five minutes remaining in the half.

Oswego would go into the break still up by 15 at 43-28.

The entire active Oswego team saw action in the second half as the Lakers never took the foot off the pedal, outscoring the Wildcats 48-15 in the half.  The Lakers started the period on a 9-0 run and never looked back.

After the 10 minute mark in the period, Oswego went on a 23-4 run to close out the game.

Jenn Robbins led the Lakers with 16 points with freshman Mary Mazella scoring a career-high 13 points.

Oswego will return to action after the New Year when they travel to New York City for the NYU Holiday Tournament.

The Lakers will take on NYU at 1 p.m. on January 3 and play Junita at 1 p.m. on January 4.
