Oswego State women’s basketball team edges Hamilton

Oswego, NY – The Oswego State women’s basketball team fought past Hamilton College 76-72 on Wednesday night in a nonconference matchup in Max Ziel Gymnasium.

With the victory, Oswego stays perfect on the campaign, improving to 3-0 while the Continentals drop to 1-2.

Heather Hebert’s layup with just 52 seconds remaining in the contest gave the Lakers a 73-72 lead, one they would not relinquish.

Oswego finished the game on an 18-7 run over the final 6:49, allowing Hamilton to notch only three field goals during the span.

Lauren Nunziato made both of her free throws with 24 seconds left to stretch the lead to three at 75-72. The Lakers then weathered the Continentals final possession as Paula Egelston grabed her game-high 12th rebound of the night to seal the win.

Egelston was immediately fouled with just 1.4 seconds remaining and drained her second shot from the charity stripe to put the game out of reach at a two-possession advantage.

Jenn Robbins tied for the game-high with 21 points while Hebert chipped in 20. Robbins and Nunziato were both 3-for-6 from range in the contest. Nunziato finished with 13 points while Hebert missed a double-double by just one board, collecting nine rebounds on the night.

Oswego will return to action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday as it travels to the University of Rochester to take on the Yellowjackets.
