POTSDAM, NY – The Oswego State women’s basketball team nabbed a 77-66 win at Potsdam on Saturday afternoon.
The win improves the Lakers record to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
Potsdam falls to 1-12 on the season and 0-6 in SUNYAC play.
Oswego got on the board first after Mary Mazzella hit a three-pointer in the second minute of play.
After that, the Lakers were able to hold the lead for the rest of the half taking a 33-28 lead into intermission.
The team never let up, leading by as much as 15 on two separate occasions during the second half.
Mazzella finished the game with 16 points, matching her career high set earlier this year against the University of Rochester.
The Peru native recorded four assists and seven rebounds to fill up the score sheet.
Also scoring in double digits for the Lakers were Alison Nunziato and Heather Hebert, who scored 13 and 14 points, respectively.
Over the course of the game, 10 different players recorded points for the Lakers.
Women’s basketball will return to the court at 7 p.m. on Tuesday as it hosts the Brockport Golden Eagles.
