Oswego State Women’s Ice Hockey Rallies For 3-1 Comeback Win Over Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team (9-8-2, 8-4-2 ECAC West) scored three third period goals to defeat Buffalo State (6-11-2, 3-8-1 ECAC West), 3-1, for the come-from-behind win Saturday afternoon.
Buffalo State got on the board first with a goal scored by Brianna Murphy at 7:55 in the first period with assists credited to Christine Williams and Leah Knott.
The Bengals held their lead through two periods until the Lakers struck quickly in the third. Carly Henderson (So., Markham, Ont.) scored her sixth goal of the season 1:33 into the frame after receiving a pass from Carly Machment (Fr., Courtice, Ont.). Less than a minute later Kelly Collins (Sr., Fairport, N.Y.) scored the go-ahead goal unassisted for her eighth goal of the year.
Chelsey Draker (Fr., Listowel, Ont.) added an insurance goal with 2:38 left to play with an assist going to Mackenzie Lee (Sr., Caledonia, N.Y.), who finished the weekend with four points on two goals and two assists.

Buffalo State pulled goaltender Jordan Lee with 1:47 left, but were unable to score as Oswego State held off the Bengal attack.

Laker goalie Catherine Cote (So., Val D’Or, Que.) tallied 25 saves for her fifth win of the season, while Lee finished with 24 stops.

The Lakers return to the friendly confines of the Campus Center Arena next weekend for their final regular season home games of the year when they face RIT on Friday at 7 p.m. Friday’s contest is also Pink at the Rink night, so fans are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for the fight against breast cancer.
