PITTSBURGH — The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team rode a six-goal third period to a 9-3 win over Chatham to sweep the weekend series at Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh. The Lakers raised their record to 7-5-2 overall, 6-2-2 in the ECAC Women’s West standings, as Chatham fell to 0-8.
Chelsey Draker (Fr., Listowel, Ont.) put Oswego State up 1-0 during a penalty-filled first period. Mackenzie Lee (Sr., Caledonia, N.Y.) stretched the lead to 3-0 with a short-handed goal at 8:44 in the second. Lee used her speed to take the puck all the way from her own zone all the way to the back of the net. Kathryn Sbrocchi (Sr., Mississauga, Ont.) received an assist on the play.
Chatham put its first goal on the board during a 4-on-4 situation at 19:30 in the second period. Sara Forbes jumped on a loose puck at the left side of the net and pushed it past Laker goalie Bridget Smith (Fr., Hamburg, N.Y.) to pull the Cougars within 3-1.

Collins scored just 12 seconds into the final frame on an unassisted slapshot from the right side. Less than two minutes later, Bergeron increased the lead to 5-1 for the Lakers. Her goal at 2:07 in the third came off assists from Carly Henderson (So., Markham, Ont.) and Breanne Reith (East St. Paul, Man.).

Lauren Gilpin (Sr., Georgetown, Ont.) tacked on another goal, with assists from Megan Howe (So., Stratford, Ont.) and Sbrocchi at 7:39 in the third before Howe added a short-handed unassisted goal at 12:23 to put Oswego up 8-1.
Chatham refused to go quietly, answering with a power-play goal at 15:06 by Ashley Reid, off a Forbes assist. Collins responded again with her second goal, unassisted at 15:24, to give Oswego a 9-2 lead. Forbes rounded out the scoring with her second tally at 17:32, with an Alex Moffatt assist, to pull the Cougars back within the 9-3 final margin.
