OSWEGO, N.Y. – Tori Trovato (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.) earned her first collegiate shutout as the Oswego State women’s ice hockey team (6-4-1, 6-2-0 ECAC West) won 4-0 over Chatham (1-7-0, 0-6-0 ECAC West) Sunday afternoon to complete the series sweep.
The Lakers scored less than two minutes into the game on a Mady Paul (Jr., Incline Village, Nevada) rebound goal, assisted by Olivia Boersen (Jr., Stratford, Ontario) and Melissa Seamont (Jr., North Bay, Ontario). Megan Hagg (Jr., Pickering, Ontario) padded to Oswego State’s lead less than a minute later when she wrapped the puck around the goal and put it into the net. Three and a half minutes later, Paul ripped a shot that went just under the crossbar to give the Lakers’ their third goal of the frame.
Bailee Goodon (Fr., Boissevain, Manitoba) scored the last goal of the game in the second period on the second power play of the game to put Oswego State ahead 4-0. Boersen and Lizzy Marks (Fr., Penfield, N.Y.) earned the assists on Goodon’s second goal of the season.
Oswego State went 1-for-2 on the power play, while the Cougars were 0-for-2 with an extra skater.
Trovato made 12 saves in the shutout, which was also her first collegiate win, while Megan Buchanan compiled 37 saves.
The Lakers close out the semester with a non-conference game against Amherst on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center Ice Arena.
