Oswego State women’s ice hockey team blanks Neumann

Oswego, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team (4-1-1) found success against Neumann University this weekend, capping the weekend with a 3-0 victory on Sunday.

The Lakers scored the first goal of the game at 12:18 in the first period when Neumann’s Grace Kleinbach was given a two-minute penalty for tripping.

After winning the next faceoff, senior Melissa Seamont scored her first goal of the season on the power play advantage. Jocelyn St. Clair and Olivia Boersen assisted Seamont with the goal.

Oswego scored again in the first, this time coming from freshman Alexa Aramburu at 17:27. Brennan Butler assisted Aramburu with the first goal of her college career.

Seamont scored her second goal of the game at 1:10 into the second period. Emma Smetaniuk assisted her with the score.

The third period remained scoreless for both teams, despite Oswego shooting 19 times in the period.

Oswego will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., to take on the Chatham University Cougars in another ECAC West game next weekend. The game will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday and the teams will faceoff again at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
