HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Junior Corinne Marsh (Endwell, N.Y.) and freshman Erannan Shattuck (Syracuse, N.Y.) each netted four goals on Wednesday, as the Oswego State women’s lacrosse team (1-1) earned its first win of the season, a 21-0 victory over host Houghton College (0-2).
Sophomore Miranda Czechowski (West Seneca, N.Y.) tallied two of the first three Laker goals in the first 13 minutes of the game, which opened the floodgates for the Oswego State attack. The Lakers scored 13 first-half goals on 21 shots. Shattuck had all four of her goals in the first stanza.
The Highlanders were only able to muster two shots in the opening period.
Oswego State continued to pour it on in the second half, as they outshot Houghton 10-3, and tacked on eight more goals. Twelve different Lakers registered goals in the game. Czechowski, Lindsey Eggers (Fr., Ridge, N.Y.) and Candace Tarana (Jr., Rochester, N.Y.) each recorded two goals in the contest.
The defense pitched a shutout, anchored by junior captain Megan McNulty (Holbrook, N.Y.), who caused four turnovers. Junior Nikki Greco (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Lauren Marois (Sr., Clifton Park, N.Y.) each played a half in goal, combining for three saves.
Oswego State will face Springfield and Centre on Sunday and Monday, respectively, as part of its road trip to the Disney Spring Training ESPN Wide World Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla.
