CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Oswego State women’s soccer team has been selected to participate in the 2011 ECAC Upstate New York Championship. The Lakers will travel to Brockport to face the Golden Eagles in the two-team format with a winner take all championship game at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 11.
Oswego State has posted an overall record of 10-8-0 this season for the first winning season since 2000 when the Lakers finished the season at 11-10-0. Oswego State will be making its ninth all-time ECAC Tournament appearance, but is returning for the first time since 2000. The Lakers won the 1994 ECAC Upstate New York Championship when they tied Binghamton, 0-0, but prevailed 4-3 on penalty kicks.
The Lakers are paced by sophomore Nikki Liadka (So., Liverpool, N.Y.), who has registered 25 points (10 goals, five assists) this season. Juniors Shelly Bateman (Fulton, N.Y.) and Kassie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y.) have contributed 19 and 14 points, respectively. Bateman leads the squad with seven assists to go along with six goals, while Kleine is second with seven goals.
Brockport comes in at 11-6-1, and defeated Oswego State, 2-1, in Brockport on October 15.
