Oswego Speedway’s Turning Stone Resort Casino Favorite Driver, Michael Barnes, drove a new Hawk Jr. Fabrication and Design Chassis to two main event wins at Oswego in 2014.

Hawksby Jr., a former Novelis Supermodified driver and the leading Supermodified manufacturer and fabricator at Oswego since 2005, is the son of longtime Supermodified driver Joe Hawksby Sr.

After climbing out of the racing seat in 2004, Hawk Jr. Fabrication and Design went into full swing, building and maintaining Supermodifieds for several track champions and Budweiser International Classic champions at Oswego.

Hawk Jr. Design Supermodifieds have won all but one Oswego track championship and all but two International Classics since 2005, tabbing Hawksby as one of the most successful Supermodified car builders in Speedway history, recently gaining national attention from Area Auto Racing News.

AARN columnist and Oswego’s Bud Light SBS Classic champion, JJ Andrews, penned the multi-page article in the builder’s edition of Area Auto which featured other heralded car builder’s across several platforms of auto racing.

The car builder’s edition of Area Auto is full of technical tips, new product info, and insights from some of the top minds in the racing world, including Hawksby.

The 2014 season was another bright spot for Hawk Jr. Fabrication and Design, with Hawk Supermodifieds earning 10 of the 13 main events at Oswego this season, including Otto Sitterly’s fourth career Budweiser International Classic triumph.

Competing Supermodified builder Paul Colloca, of Xtreme Chassis, posted three main events wins in 2014 with Kody Graham, Joey Payne as well as Joe Gosek’s No. 00.

Xtreme Chassis also swept the front row for the Budweiser International Classic in 2014 with Payne and Graham, and a new track record of 15.802 seconds set by Payne.

The two contending chassis builders have made for some of the most intense racing action at Oswego in several years, with seven different main event winners at Oswego in 2014.

Several new Hawk Jr. Fabrication and Design chassis are in the works for 2015, including a John Nicotra Racing ride for Ohio based winged Supermodified ace Dave Shullick Jr. as well as a machine for returning Supermodified contender Joe Moriarty of Glendale, Ariz.

While Hawk and Xtreme chassis have been the dominant brand in recent years along, with several new edition Mike Muldoon creations, builders Chris Osetek, Steve Gioia Jr., Steve Buske, Howard Page, and others continue the tradition of homebuilt Supermodified creations, taking on the ‘Steel Palace’ on a week to week basis.
