Lake Ontario report
We have had some wind over the last week or so but conditions look favorable for the weekend. Salmon are active in 150 feet of water out to the deeper depths. Spoons and flasher/fly combinations are working well. Lakers have been taken in 150 feet of water and brown trout have been spotty due to the water temperature. Anglers are finding some bass in the shallow water.

According to Strike Zone Charters:
Yesterday was all about the kids. We had a great time with our clients on both the morning and afternoon trips. The fishing was not easy, but lots of nice fish were landed. A mixed bag of 10 lakers, 3 salmon, a 24″ Atlantic and 3 ciscos.

Oswego River report:
The water flow spiked to 7,000 cfs on Tuesday but has dropped back to 1,680 cfs as of this morning. Anglers are continuing to look for walleye using stickbaits and jigs along the river. Bass have also been active taking crayfish and tube jigs.

Notice: Brookfield Renewable’s Varick Hydroelectric Station on the Oswego River will be out of service until approximately September 1, 2020 while electrical equipment is upgraded. During this time flow through the Varick Hydroelectric Station will be stopped and all river flow will be released at the NYS Dam known as Varick Dam into the natural river channel below the dam. Please be advised that during this time flow in the natural river channel could be significantly greater than when the hydroelectric station is operational.

Notice: The bridge to Leto Island is closed, and there are mandatory personal flotation device (PFD) zones on the river. The Oswego Fire Department offers loaner life jackets at no charge through its “Loaner for Life” program. For more information contact the fire station, 35 E. Cayuga St., at 315-343-2161.

Salmon River report:
We have had some very pleasant temperatures the last few days along with some rain at times. Recent anglers on the river reported having decent luck with smallmouth bass and a few fallfish. The current water flow remains at 185 cfs with 244 cfs at Pineville.

Oneida Lake report:
Anglers are finding an active walleye bite both trolling and jigging in deeper water with blade baits and spinner baits working well. More shallow water along the weed beds is also productive. Stickbaits and jigs are taking bass in the shallow depths.

Sandy Pond report:
There is not a lot of activity on the pond this time of year but anglers are finding walleye using stickbaits and jigs. Look for bass along the weed beds with spinnerbaits and rubber worms. Large minnows are taking a few northern pike.
