Fishing Reports for July 2, 2020

Lake Ontario report:
According to Capt. Andy Bliss of Chasin’ Tail Adventures:
The kings are here!!! We had well over double digit bites on trips last weekend. A-TOM-MIK copper was firing 350-450’ sections; gators and SSW Stingrays took a far share and Fire Brined bait took the rest. Twinkies were better than clean heads. Warship, warship glow and shenster worked very well.

According to Strike Zone Charters:
With a hard Northeast wind on Tuesday morning, we opted to go way north and try for lake trout. The waves and wind made it impossible to keep speed and stay near the bottom with the lures. We chose to put out our salmon and steelhead stuff and crank the speed up over deeper water. We were rewarded with a few nice fish.

Oswego River report:
The water flow is currently at 1310 CFS. Anglers continue to find some walleye action using stickbaits and jigs. Bass are being taken along the river with crayfish a suggested bait.

Salmon River report:
Reports have been scarce this week from the river. Last weekend anglers reported getting into some smallmouth bass. With the sun and warm temperatures coming for the next few days, they are likely to be in the deeper holes and a bit difficult to find especially mid-day. The water release continues at 185 CFS and it’s been holding steady for days in the 240 CFS range.

Oneida Lake report:
As we head into the holiday weekend we are also looking at temperatures that are expected to be near 90 degrees for the next week. Anglers have been finding a good walleye bite in 25-40 feet of water. With the warm sunny days the evening bite has been most active. Trolling and jigging were successful applications. Bass season has been very good so far with stickbaits and jigs working well in shallow water.

Sandy Pond report:
With the warm weather and several days of summer-like temperatures activity may be rather quiet on the pond. Anglers are finding a few bass along the weed beds using spinnerbaits and rubber worms. Anglers are finding some walleye activity using stickbaits and jigs.
