Oswego Town – The public is welcome to our presentation on the churches in Oswego Town. Representatives of the various sites will make up a panel discussing the histories of the religious groups. The oldest church in the Town is the Southwest Oswego Baptist Church founded in 1839 and is still continuing its ministry.
John B. McLean, a leader in the national Sunday School movement and a member of the church, founded the first Sunday School in the Town and is buried in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery. The church building on the corner of Rts. 20 and 104 is the oldest in the Town built in 1854.
The meeting is at 10 am Sat. Oct. 22 at the Town Hall 2320 Co. Rt. 7.
A brief business meeting will precede this event with the election of officers. The granite base for the Dr. Mary Walker statue has been placed ready for the arrival of the statue at a date yet to be confirmed.
