OSWEGO TOWN, NY – SUNY Oswego University Police arrested Connor R. Uriarte, 19, of 51 Wagstaff Lane, West Islip, NY, on Sunday (April 17) at 2:12 a.m.
He was charged with second-degree burglary –a class C felony; fourth-degree grand larceny – a class E felony; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance – a class A misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana – a violation.
According to a university spokesperson, officers were called to Oneida Hall at 1:56 a.m. Sunday on a burglary complaint.
A resident student was awoken by an unknown male in his dorm room attempting to steal his TV, the spokesperson said.
The suspect fled when the victim woke; the victim gave a description of the suspect via
telephone which was broadcast to officers en route to the call.
Two officers and a lieutenant were searching the building when the lieutenant located the suspect, who was subsequently positively identified by the victim.
The suspect was arrested and was found to allegedly be in possession of the victim’s wallet and credit cards.
A further search of the suspect revealed that he reportedly had one half Alprazolam pill in his pocket for which he did not have a prescription.
He also had a marijuana grinder, a scale and a small amount of marijuana on him, according to the report.
He was arraigned before Oswego Town Justice Sterio and remanded to Oswego County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
He is to reappear on April 25 in Oswego Town Court.
The suspect (not a student at Oswego) would not tell officers who he was visiting or how he got into the residence hall.
