Oswego, NY Ã¢â‚¬â€œ The Oswego Town Historical Society will meet on July 9 at 6:30 for a general business meeting to discuss, among other items on the agenda, their upcoming Ice Cream Social which has been a summer tradition for over seven years.
The annual Ice Cream Social will take place on Tuesday, July 14 at the Oswego Town Hall. The free event includes the serving of ice cream and live entertainment. This yearÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s music is being provided by the Oswego Valley Fiddlers (pictured) who will begin playing at 6:30 pm. Ice cream is served beginning at 6:00 pm. The wooden bowl raffle winnerÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s name will also be drawn during the evening.
The Oswego Valley Fiddlers will treat you to a little bit of everything, from square dances, waltzes, two-steps, jugs and reels to schottisches. The group, led by Sue Barrington as president, ranging from classically trained players to enthusiastic beginners will treat listeners to a variety of fiddle styles, from French Canadian to northeastern to Appalachian. The Oswego Valley Fiddlers is a chapter of the New York Olde Tyme Fiddler’s Association and they give many concerts at various venues throughout the state.
