The Oswego YMCA will host the 28th annual Reindeer Run, a 5k Fun Run and Walk on December 2, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.

This event is a fun and healthy way for friends and family to kick off the Oswego community holiday season.

As a non-competitive fun run, participants are asked to exhibit holiday cheer by dressing festively.

People can run individually or as a team and are encouraged to dress in any variety of holiday themed ideas for example as reindeer, santas, elves, candy canes, Christmas trees or gifts.

Last year, the event brought more than 150 family members and friends together on a December Saturday morning to downtown Oswego.

Proceeds from this event go to support Oswego YMCA health and wellness programs.

There is an entry fee for the Reindeer Run/walk and registration is available at the Oswego YMCA, 265 W. First St., Oswego or online at lightboxreg.com.

Fees increase for same day registration on December 2.

The Oswego YMCA will accept in-person registration until 9 a.m. on race day.

T-shirts are only guaranteed if registered by November 22 at noon.

Santa will be present at the run to congratulate all finishers and share some holiday cheer.

Snacks and refreshments, including the Taste of the World’s famous coffee and hot chocolate bar, Ontario Orchards donut holes and fruit from C’s Market will be offered to all participants following the run.

New this year, the Oswego YMCA is offering a drop off program for kids ages 6 months to 12 years for all run participants 9 to 11 a.m.
