Oswego Health Staff Rally Together, Donate To Area Food Banks

OSWEGO – It recently came to our attention that many local food pantries within our community were suffering terribly and many may not be able to provide their traditional holiday meals/gifts to families that rely on them this time of year.

The pandemic has drastically depleted many traditional funding sources and for example, Catholic Charities, who typically would provide 250-300 holiday gift baskets primarily to families in Fulton and Hannibal containing food items for the holidays, unfortunately, may not be able to do this year given the lack of funding.

So our employees rallied!

For a period of 10 days our staff collected nonperishable items, donated cash and even purchased grocery gift cards, all to support Oswego County food pantries. There was even friendly competition between departments, and I’m proud to say that we collected $1,990 in cash/gift cards.  Oswego Health then matched with an additional $1,000.

Later this week we will be dividing the donations and delivering care packages to help stock our food pantries.

Supporting our food pantries and feeding our residents is directly connected to the health and well-being of our community. We’re proud of how our employees came together to support our community. Simply said, we care. That’s what we do here at Oswego Health.
