OSWEGO — After posting a 10-2 record in their debut season, the Oz Roller Girls look to conquer a more difficult road for their second campaign.

Their season will begin on the road on Jan. 7 against the Albany All-Stars Roller Derby A team. Last year, Oz played B teams who, like them, mainly featured less-experienced skaters. A-level teams feature more experienced and skilled skaters, so this represents a big challenge for Oswego County’s roller derby team.

Oz did defeat Albany’s B team 193-74 on their way to winning the first-ever Triple D Tournament, but know they have to raise their game in their first bout against an A-level team.

The Oz Roller Girls will have five home games this season, starting with a winter bout, “Blizzard of Oz,” on Saturday, March 10, in Oswego’s historic Armory against a team yet to be determined. The team is booking bouts with teams throughout New York state and New England for its second season.

In addition to the first Oz bouts against A teams, the schedule also will include some of the best B teams in the state, including Roc City’s B-Sides from Rochester and CNY Roller Derby’s B-Team from the Utica-Rome area.

Season tickets for home bouts, as well as merchandise and collectibles for holiday shoppers, are available at the Oz Roller Girls’ online store, http://ozrollergirls.com/store/oz-store.
