Oz Roller Girls To Battle In ‘Cinco De Mayhem’ May 5

OSWEGO — The Oz Roller Girls will host the Albany All-Stars A Team on May 5 in a rematch of a high-scoring Oz victory from earlier this year.

Titled “Cinco de Mayhem,” the bout will start at 6 p.m. in Oswego’s Crisafulli Rink. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Oz Roller Girls blockers (from left) Von Diesel, Resilient Jen-Hitsu and Ammie Oakley try to control play against the Skateful Dead from Kingston, a bout they won to raise their record to 2-0 to start the season.

Oz scored its first victory over an A team — denoting level of talent and experience — when it defeated Albany 204-162 in a fast-paced back-and-forth match in front of a packed and loud house in Albany.

The win was part of a nine-game win streak for Oz, in only its second year of competition, but they expect the visitors to come ready and motivated to avenge that defeat.

A portion of proceeds will benefit the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

Advance-sale tickets cost $15 for trackside VIP with general admission tickets $10. Admission is $5 for children ages 4 to 12.
