Parish Fall Fest is Oct. 24

The Greater Parish Area Chamber of Commerce Parish Fall Fest will be on Sat. October 24 The morning will start off with the mile-long Fun Walk around the block beginning at the Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church at 9 a.m. $5 registration or $10 registration with shirt.

The doors at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium will open at 10:30 a.m. (9 a.m. for vendor set-up) for the free spooky haunted house, APW Band & Color Guard Booster Club bake sale and shopping. The 2nd Annual Apple Pie Bake Off judging will take place at 11 a.m. The chamber will have burgers and hotdogs hot off the grill starting at 11 a.m. too. The annual costume parade will begin at Dill Pickle Alley this year, AND with the APW Band and Color Guard participating!!

After the parade there will be even more fun at the gym with the APW Educational Foundation’s “Pumpkin” Throwing, Girl Scout Troop 710’s Frisbee golf target, crafts and movies for the children; free with non-perishable food donation: Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie (G, 60 minutes); Fat Albert’s Halloween Special (NR, 65 minutes); It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (G, 25 minutes).

At 4 p.m. the day will close with all the announcements of the winners for the Scarecrow contest, the apple pie contest, the Focus on Parish photo contest and the pumpkin throw challenge. Most of the proceeds will benefit the local food pantries.

BUT the day does not end there at 7 PM the APW Band & Color Guard booster club will open a spookier haunted house at the gym with a $2 admission. The proceeds will be used for their upcoming trip to Washington DC for the Fourth of July 2010.
