The Kinney Drugs located at 10 Carlton Drive in Parish, N.Y. will permanently close at the end of business on Friday, October 17, 2008. Upon its closure all prescription records will be transferred to the Kinney Drugs located at 3318 Main Street in Mexico, NY. Prescription customers will receive a formal letter explaining the closure and prescription transfer process.
Beginning Friday, October 17th, Parish Kinney Drugs customers seeking to fill their prescriptions or obtain a refill should use the Mexico Kinney Drugs. However, prescriptions can also be transferred to Camden, Brewerton, Pulaski or any other Kinney Drugs location should those pharmacies be more convenient. To transfer a prescription to a store other than the Mexico location through October 17th, customers should call the Parish Kinney Drugs pharmacy at (315) 625-4940. After October 17th, customers should call the Mexico Kinney Drugs at (315) 963-0601. Kinney’s pharmacists will handle all the details.
In conjunction with the prescription transfer, the Mexico store will expand its free prescription delivery service to include the area formerly served by the Parish location. Customers may have any product from the store delivered to them along with their prescription, except alcohol and tobacco products.
All employees at the Parish store have been offered positions at other Kinney Drugs in the area.
Kinney Drugs acquired the Parish store two years ago from Wayne Drugs along with three other locations. Kinney added healthcare products and services and re-merchandised the store, but after two years sales are insufficient to make it a viable location. “We regret any inconvenience that this store closure may cause for our customers,” commented Craig Painter, CEO, Kinney Drugs, Inc. “However, the staff at the Mexico Kinney Drugs is excited to welcome new customers into their store and will make everyone from the Parish store feel right at home.”
The Mexico Kinney Drugs offers a broader range of products and services to its customers. In addition to their free prescription delivery, customers will have a wider range of over the counter medications and medical supplies. It also offers a drive-thru pharmacy, a digital photo kiosk, a full size Hallmark card department, an expanded food, snacks and beverage department, expanded assortments of personal care, beauty care, cosmetics, seasonal and promotional merchandise, as well as, better parking and extended hours.
