FULTON, NY – On May 18, at about 1 p.m., Fulton Police charged Matthew A. Merrill Sr., 29, of 2488 State Route 3, Fulton, with heroin possession with the intent to sell.
Members of the Fulton Police Department and Oswego County Drug Task Force responded to the area of Voorhees Park for a report of a man selling drugs.
The man, identified as Merrill, was found at the park with his 5-year-old child, according to police.
During the investigation, Merrill reportedly fled on foot, leaving his child behind.
While one officer stood by with the child, other officers on scene pursued Merrill on foot to the 100 block of South Fifth Street where he was placed in custody.
Merrill was allegedly found in possession of 35 small glassine bags containing a substance which field tested positive for heroin.
He was charged with the following offenses:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree – B felony
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree – A Misdemeanor
Obstructing Government Administration 2nd – A Misdemeanor
Endangering the Welfare of a Child- A Misdemeanor
Merrill was arraigned in Fulton City Court by Judge Mirabito and was remanded to the Oswego County Public Safety Center.
