Pet of the Week – Butterscotch

OSWEGO – What do you dream about?

Butterscotch

Butterscotch

Butterscotch’s foster family has caught him several times underneath the Christmas tree, dreaming of his forever home.

We need someone to make that dream come true.

His foster mom has this to say about him: “What can I not say about Butterscotch? He is a wonderful, loving kitty who loves to give and receive love and kisses. Butterscotch is very affectionate, however he has to be an only fur baby in a furever home. He does not get along well with other animals as he wants all of the love and attention for himself and wants to be king of the castle. He loves to sleep with his foster mommy so I am confident that he will love to sleep with his new mommy and daddy too and keep them warm and cozy on those cold winter nights! If I didn’t already have my own kitty that I have had for quite some time, I would keep Butterscotch for myself because you couldn’t ask for a better new best friend. And one last thing, he absolutely loves to play with those catnip moussies!”

But here is the catch with Butterscotch.

He’s FIV positive.

Now that is not as dire a problem as it may sound.

FIV is not contagious to humans or other species.

Though it can be contagious from cat to cat, it’s difficult to spread; transmission usually requires a deep bite wound.

Butterscotch is healthy and happy and with good vet care he can live a long normal life.

Since he doesn’t want to be around other animals anyway, there is no danger of him infecting another cat.

So please give this handsome fella a chance.
