The Phoenix girls’ varsity volleyball team scored a big win for breast cancer research during its recent “Dig Pink” volleyball match.
As part of its fundraising effort, the team offered a $2 serving competition between the second and third sets.
In addition to the money raised through the serving competition, all proceeds from the admission price also went toward breast cancer research.
According to volleyball coach Angie Neiss, the fundraiser generated $1,033, far exceeding the original $500 goal.
Some players, Neiss said, played in honor or in memory of someone close to them.
