OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s soccer team lost a 2-0 contest against SUNYAC rival Plattsburgh on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Laker Soccer Field.
The loss puts them at 2-7-2 on the season and 1-2-1 in conference play.
Early in the first half, Oswego thought they took an early lead but a Mitch Brickman headed goal was called back on a foul.
Plattsburgh’s first goal was scored by a Fabian Chaparro with 17:57 left in the first half. The midfielder was able to connect on a bouncing ball in the box for a volley that went over keeper Todd Lawson’s head. The Cardinals’ Jon Cabeca then added an insurance goal in the 73rd minute.
Despite the loss, the Lakers were able to outshoot the Cardinals 13-12. The shots were spread around the squad evenly, as eight different players recorded a shot attempt.
Men’s soccer will travel to Fredonia at 4 p.m. on Friday to take on the Blue Devils.
