“The Fantasticks” was written by Harvey Schmidt with lyrics by Tom Jones, tells an allegorical tale of two neighbors who try to trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud.

When this strategy fails the parents hire a professional problem solver, who is a part of a traveling acting troupe, to test in the children’s relationship.

This results in heartache and confusion, and eventually reunification, culminating with the famous song “Try to Remember.”
