Players Present Second Weekend Of ‘Cuckoo’s Nest’

OSWEGO, NY – On April 23, the Oswego Players will open a second weekend of the Ken Kesey’s drama “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

The story of the play begins with new patient, Randle P. McMurphy, disrupting the usual routine of mental hospital to the point where Nurse Ratched, the tyrannical ward supervisor, becomes his persecutor.

McMurphy’s free spirited attitude leads to a near rebellion amongst the patients, eventually leading to McMurphy’s destruction.

Watching this process, without saying a word, Chief Bromdon, and inspired by McMurphy’s resistance, finds the will to take back his own life.

The cast of the production features Peter Mahan as Randle P. McMurphy and Laura Lowerie as Nurse Ratched. Other cast includes, Joe Calverase, Zane Leo, Sue Pirrera, Troy Pepper, Kyle Walton, Richard Mosher, Norman Berlin III, Norman Berlin Jr., Ken Snow, Dennis Darrow, Jennifer Snow, Larry Rose, and Amanda Lee Mosher.

“One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” is directed by Bobby Fontana assisted by Quinn Etchie as assistant director and Sharon Darrow as stage manager.

Technical staffers include Ken Snow and Norm Berlin Jr., set design and construction; Amanda Mosher, makeup design; Richard Mosher, light design; and Seamus Darrow, light board.

The show will be presented April 23 and 24 at 8 p.m. with a matinee performance on April 25 at 2 p.m. in the Frances Marion Brown Theater, located in the Civic Arts Center building in Fort Ontario Park in Oswego.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for students.
