OSWEGO – The Oswego Players, in collaboration with Theater DuJour, will present “An Act of God” in April.
They will present David Javerbaum’s comedy beginning April 28 as the second production of its 80th anniversary season.
In An Act of God, the supreme being has decided that the message of the original Ten Commandments has become distorted and outdated.
So, he has decided to return to earth in the form of an actor to roll out a new “improved version,” aided by the Archangels Michael and Gabriel.
The play opened in May of 2015 for a limited run through August 2 with Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) as God.
The show returned to Broadway in June of 2016 for another limited engagement starring Sean Hayes (Will and Grace) for a 90-day run.
The Oswego Players’ production of the play features Matt Fleming as God, with Patrick Carmen and Tammy Wilkinson as Michael and Gabriel.
The Players’ production of An Act of God is one the first in Upstate New York to be granted the royalties to the show by Dramatist’s Play Service, the publisher.
Oswego Players Board President Paul Mckinney will direct this production assisted by Alex Taylor as stage manager.
