Playing for Poverty Teams Up With Save-a-lot

Fulton, NY-  From now through the end of July, Save-a-lot of Fulton will be selling paper soup cans to raise money for the 4th annual Playing for Poverty community concert in the city of Fulton. All proceeds will be donated, along with money and non-perishable food items collected the day of the event, to Food Bank of CNY and area food pantries.

The event, hosted by a coalition of community service agencies in cooperation with community volunteers, aims to raise awareness of the issue of poverty in our community as well as collect donations that will help meet the need faced by area food pantries. According to committee member Brett Counterman, “The success of this event has been due to the generosity and assistance provided by area businesses like Save-a-lot. With the continued participation of community members and businesses alike, we will be able to continue fighting poverty in Oswego County.”

The cans will be for sale for $1 each and available at checkout areas. Soup cans may also be purchased at Oswego County Opportunities’ offices in Midtown Plaza in Oswego at the front desk.

The concert will be held on August 6 from 12-7pm at the Fulton War Memorial Ice Rink and will feature music from Magical Mystery Tour, Bill Oeinck, Ah! Ethernauts, and Eliza. It will also include food by the Lions Club and activities for the whole family.
