OSWEGO – On Thursday (July 6), Oswego City Police investigators arrested 45-year-old Bruce D. Williams of Oswego, following an investigation into a domestic incident.
It is alleged that from July 1, at about 1 p.m., to July 4, at about 7 a.m., while at the defendant’s residence, Williams held an adult female victim, with whom he was familiar, against her will.
During the time that the suspect refused to allow the victim to leave, it is further alleged that the defendant repeatedly struck the victim in the head, face and shoulder with a closed fist while in the presence of several children less than 17 years of age.
Additionally, it is alleged that the defendant sexually assaulted and forcibly raped the victim while she was being held against her will and Williams threatened to kill the victim if she didn’t cooperate.
The victim was able to escape by exiting the residence through a window and calling 911 from an area business, police said.
The victim suffered bruising, swelling and substantial pain.
Following the arrest, Williams was later arraigned in Oswego City Court on charges including:
– Kidnapping in the first degree (A-I Felony)
– Rape in the first degree (B-Felony)
– Criminal sex act in the first degree (B-Felony)
– Assault in the third degree (A-Misdemeanor)
– Criminal mischief in the fourth degree (A-Misdemeanor)
-Endangering the welfare of a child (A-Misdemeanor)
At arraignment, the defendant was remanded to the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail / $20,000 bond with a return court date of July 12.
