Police Probe Death In East Side Business

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego police are investigating a death on the city’s east side.

At about 4:30 p.m. Friday, officers from the Oswego City Police Department were alerted by a concerned citizen that the Boost Mobile store, 49 E. Bridge St., was apparently left unattended.

As police investigated the complaint they immediately discovered a teen in the back of the store who had apparently hanged himself.

EMS was dispatched and arrived on scene shortly after.

In a life-saving attempt, the victim was transported by Oswego Ambulance to Oswego Hospital where he was ultimately pronounced dead.

Investigators from the police department report that, from the initial investigation, it appears as though the victim, an employee of Boost Mobile, died as a result of a suicide.

However, the official cause of death is pending investigation and the results from the Medical
Examiner’s Office.

The identity of the 16-year-old victim isn’t being released at this time due to the sensitive nature of the investigation.

The investigation is continuing and more information will be available following the final determination of the Medical Examiner and the conclusion of the police investigation.
