Police: Robbery suspect in custody

Suspect in Custody Oswego City Police have identified a suspect in the robbery that occurred at 126 East Oneida St. on Wednesday.

The suspect, who will not be named at this time, is currently in custody.

No further information will be released this evening, police said.

An update will be issued during the early afternoon hours on Friday detailing the suspect’s pedigree information and charge(s).

OSWEGO, NY – The suspect in Wednesday’s robbery at the Rise and Shine Convenience Store is described as a white male possibly in his late teens, approximately 5’ – 7” tall, thin build, short brown hair, with a possible black /bruised left eye.

He was wearing a gray colored hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and light colored sneakers.

Video surveillance cameras captured the robbery and the footage was provided by the Rise and Shine Convenience Store to aid in the investigation.

ORIGINAL INFORMATION

On Wednesday April 3, 2013, at about 2 p.m. the Oswego City Police Department was dispatched to the Rise and Shine Convenience Store located at 126 East Oneida Street in the City of Oswego for a reported robbery.  An investigation determined that a male stole a purse from a customer outside of the store while stating that he possessed a gun.  No weapons were displayed to the victim.  The suspect then fled the scene on foot in a westerly direction.  The Oswego Police was assisted by the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department, The New York State Police, US Border patrol and the New York State Environmental Conservation Police in canvassing the area searching for the suspect with negative results.
