The tour follows the award of a $1 million grant to the Land Bank through New York’s Homebuyer Development Program to continue its work rehabilitating vacant and distressed homes. The commitment will allow the Land Bank to move forward with designated building projects throughout Oswego County.
“The Land Bank is a model for how we can take action on housing right now. With more than 85 properties across the county completed, the Oswego County Land Bank has proven in its short history that it can successfully rehabilitate vacant, blighted properties and return them to productive, tax-generating properties,” said Leader Barclay. “With strong leadership, a dedicated local board and support from the state, this program is transforming abandoned properties into family homes, lifting up neighborhoods and giving residents real opportunities.”
Since its formation in 2016, the Oswego County Land Bank has proven to be a valuable asset to the community, successfully returning dozens of homes to the market and improving housing options across Oswego County. Its impact is visible in communities where renewed homes are helping stabilize neighborhoods and encouraging new investments.
