Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski) visited the Mexico Public Library on Tuesday where he read to a group of local children and encouraged them to embrace reading throughout their summer break. During the visit, Leader Barclay promoted the Collaborative Summer Library Program[1], featuring this year’s theme, “Color our World,” designed to inspire creativity, imagination and a lifelong love of reading. After the reading session, Library Director Colleen Grzesik led a tour of the facility.

He also invited students to participate in the New York State Assembly Summer Reading Challenge, which rewards young readers who dedicate at least 15 minutes a day to reading for 40 days over the summer. Participants will receive a certificate of achievement from Leader Barclay upon completion. More information on the Summer Reading Challenge can be found here[2].
