WASHINGTON D.C. – On Tuesday, February 28 at 10:45 AM, U.S. Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), and Cory Booker (D-NJ), Representatives Andrew Garbarino (R-NY-2), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY-12), Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY-4), and Daniel Goldman (D-NY-10), 9/11 health program advocates, and 9/11 responders and survivors will introduce a bill to close the funding shortfall in the World Trade Center Health Program. While the lawmakers delivered $1 billion for the program in last year’s funding package, the program still faces a substantial funding gap and excludes some Pentagon and Shanksville responders. The bill will address the long-term funding shortfall, allow excluded Pentagon and Shanksville responders to join the program, and make technical corrections to the program.
The elected officials will be joined by International Association of Fire Fighters General President Edward Kelly, 9/11 advocate John Feal, union representatives of NYPD and FDNY, and other 9/11 responder and survivor advocates, including medical professionals.
**The press conference will be livestreamed on Senator Gillibrand’s official Facebook[1] and Twitter[2] pages**
