Port City Theatre takes to the road again with another performance of John, His Story, on Sunday, Oct. 12, 3pm, at Southwest United Methodist Church on Rte. 104, next to Ontario Orchards. The seasoned performers are excited to continue delivering the delightful play to audiences around CNY.
Written by Jeanette Clift George, the play offers a contemporary view of the miracles recorded in the Gospel of John as told by ordinary bystanders. Not the least bit “preachey”, audiences witness an incredibly human perspective on the impact of Jesus and his ministry. Veteran actors Kristin Cook, Beth DeRousie, Robert Fontana and Larry Eason bring to life the character list of about 25, humorous and all too real, sometimes poignant and dramatic, all with some costume accessory changes and a few props.
John, His Story has played to audiences throughout the region since last spring in the tradition of the play as first premiered by Houston-based Christian theatre company A.D. Players who also performed JOHN in a successful off-Broadway run in 1997 at the Lamb’s Theatre. The play toured internationally and continues to receive critical acclaim in productions across the country.
Port City Theatre continues its tradition of “Pay-What-You-Can” in lieu of admission. The performance is open to the public at 3pm on Oct. 12th in the Southwest United Methodist Church on Rte. 104 next to Ontario Orchards.
