Positively Parish News – Week of March 15_2013

Get well wishes are extended to Haiden Fullmer and John Piseski.

Morgan Frederick was inducted March 3 into the Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society.

This membership is a significant honor in recognition of Morgan Frederick’s record of academic distinction.

Morgan will be able to participate in an annual conference, to compete for writing prizes, scholarships, and internships.

Morgan is also a teaching assistant for Language and Culture at SUNY Potsdam this semester.

Kudos Morgan!

Thank you to all who came to kickoff on Saturday morning.

I hope that you were inspired to rally for relay.

As we said during the presentation, we need your help to spread the word of what you are doing in Parish. Let’s give the other communities the opportunity to be involved in this great event that is saving lives – every day – like Megan Rhodes from Camden – who was amazing!

We have our first team captain meeting on April 15 – 7 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene  – hope to see you there.

A new and exciting Bark For Life event; a lot of you seemed very interested and it is another opportunity to get the word out and raise important funds to fight cancer.

Teams are able to come that day and do some on-site fundraising at Bark For Life as well.

We always have things to talk about at the meetings but what would you like us to talk about?

Feel free to send some topics, for example: the website, more about the ACS and what we do, fundraising ideas and etc.

Whatever you like, let us know and we will add it to the agenda.

Thank you again for your dedication and support of the American Cancer Society.

Team captains that were not there last night will receive the team captain kit at the April meeting.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any concerns you may have about this new procedure.

Thank you Margaret DeNeve, special events director Eastern Division American Cancer Society, Inc. 6725 Lyons St., East Syracuse, NY 13057 Phone: 315-433-5627.

The Greater Parish Area Chamber of Commerce held an important meeting on Thursday at the Parish Public Library.

The dedicated group will give at least one more year of service, so please show your support, get involved and also renew your membership.

Business: $30; non-profit group: $12 and individual: $10 send to Charlene Dano’s attention at PO Box 303, Parish.

On April 6, the Russell-Horning American Legion Post 601 will host a chicken BBQ with a big bake sale and lots of raffles to benefit the Pleasant Lawn and Bidwell cemeteries from noon until sold out.

FYI — The next community blood drive hosted by the New Hope Presbyterian Church will be held at the Parish Fire Station on May 4.
