Pressure Builds For Title Contenders Saturday At Fulton Speedway

FULTON, NY –  When you hit this point of the season it doesn’t matter if you’re the rabbit being chased in the point standings or the one trying to catch the rabbit.  Time is quickly running out to decide to 2014 Fulton Speedway Track Champions.

This Saturday, WOLF 105.1-98.3- New Country presents a full night of affordable, family, fun, fast racing excitement featuring the Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman, NAPA Late Models, E&V Energy Novice Sportsman, A-Verdi Storage Containers 305 Sprints, Hilton’s Automotive Four Cylinders plus it’s Microd Club Night at the speedway.

Last Saturday in the Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds, the feature winner Jim Witko Jr. had the most popular win of the season to date in victory lane and from the cheers from the crowd.

Witko and his wife Barb travel from their Clarks Summit, Pa., home with their unsponsored Big Block Modified to compete at the Brewerton and Fulton speedways against much better financed teams every weekend. A week ago Witko dominated the 35-Lap feature that included a late caution flag to tighten the field up. Witko was up to the challenge holding off 29-time Fulton feature winner Billy Decker.

Top-Five in the point standings coming into Saturday:  Larry Wight (560) – Jimmy Phelps (526) – Billy Decker (516) – Pat Ward (478) – Rob Bellinger (478).

It looks like the SUNY Canton Sportsman could come down to the final point race Labor Day Weekend. The top five in points most nights get handicapped deep in the field and are so equal and quick they always seem to be battling near the front of the field where no driver can get a clear advantage.

Top Five in the standings. Beth Schneider (570) – Ron Davis III (557) – Mike Button (550) – Tony Finch (517) – Corey Barker (481).

What a race AJ Kingsley and Sean Beardsley put on last Saturday in the 20-Lap NAPA Late Model feature. Over the last half of the race they fought nose to tail and side by side right down to the checkers that saw Kingsley take the narrow win. It was Kingsley’s fourth feature win of the year.

Top Five in the standings:  Tim Sears Jr. (654) – AJ Kingsley (652) – Brandon Ford (500) – Rick Miller (458) – Johnny Hill (426).

In only his third start ever at the Fulton Speedway Rylee Gill dominated the E&V Energy Novice Sportsman feature.  Ricky Yelle, Trevor Lindsey, Haiden Burdick, Taylor Jackson finished second through fifth.

Gordy Button slowed down the high flying John Cunningham in the A-Verdi Storage Containers 305 Sprints picking up his third feature win of the year.

Chuck Powelczyk overcame bad luck Friday at the Brewerton Speedway by coming back in dominating fashion for his fifth win of the season at the Fulton Speedway.

Top Five in the standings. Chuck Powelczyk (518) – Justin Buske (498) – Skip DeGroff (470) – Mark Johnston (450) – Keith Zirbel (446).

Adult general admission tickets Saturday will be $12 with everyone 18 years old and younger free. Pit admission is $27 Participants/$30 Non-Participants.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
