The Marching Buccaneers recently completed their annual “Summer Band Camp” in preparation for the 2009 New York State Field Band Competition season.

This year’s program, “The Search,” is a three-part presentation with selections from the Broadway musical “Ragtime.”

“The Search” chronicles the life of a child as they mature from the joys of childhood, through adolescence and finally as an adult who recognizes, with deep appreciation, the freedom of being an American citizen and the success of having a career, home and family.

The band camp week of daily eight-hour practices confirmed the Marching Bucs teamwork, perseverance, character, and pride in self and community.

Band Camp week included theme days as well as a crowd of nearly 200 in attendance for their first family picnic.

The local highlight for the Marching Bucs will be the thirty-first Pageant of Champions on Sept. 26 held at Joe Wilber Athletic Complex, which will feature 11 outstanding field bands from across Central New York.

Gates open at 5 p.m.
