Programs for Writers Being Offered at CNY Arts Center

FULTON, NY – The CNY Arts Center has announced its November calendar of opportunities for writers which include Launching Your Writing Journey.

This one-day workshop that will help beginning writers learn to identify and set specific goals for projects, review basic elements of writing and learn tips to stay motivated to write.

Instructor: Carolyn Dougherty. The class date is November 17 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Saturday Writer’s Club, a children’s writing program, is being offered by Karen Burke and Jim Farfaglia.

This monthly class, for children ages 8 – 15, will offer young writers a place to learn writing skills, practice them and share their efforts with others.

We’ll also feature guest speakers and announce events, contests and opportunities for young writers.

The program will run the third Saturday of each month from 1 – 5 p.m. Our first class is November 17.

Writing Your Holiday Gifts is a class designed to offer adults an opportunity to create a gift for their loved ones through writing.

Write a special poem, capture a memory of Christmases past or create a fantasy story to delight children and grandchildren!

This three-week class will run Nov. 30, Dec 7 and 14 from 1 – 3 p.m. Instructor is Jim Farfaglia.

Special programs for November include Writer’s Café on November 11 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

The café is a venue for local writers to share their work with others.

The event is free and refreshments will be available.

People who want to read their work and people who enjoy listening are welcome.

Author’s Spotlight will feature a local author each month who has recently published a book or article.

The 7 p.m. November 14 event will feature nine local authors who are part of the recently published anthology Driftwords.

These writers will be offering excerpts of their work from the book; including memoirs, short stories, poetry and humor.

The event is free and refreshments will be served.
