Public Safety and Justice Students Train at ERTC

Oswego County BOCES Career and Technical Education students in the Public Safety and Justice program participated in a multi-day training session at the Oswego County Emergency Response and Training Center. OCB Instructors in conjunction with ERTC Training Staff coordinated tabletop exercises and hands-on firefighting exercises to give students an opportunity to apply their last several months of classroom training. A group of students pictured tests their hose stream before entering a controlled burn situation that required the team to locate and extinguish a fire on the second story of a building. The training sessions gave students an opportunity to learn to work to together, trust in their gear, and ultimately prepares them for future careers in the field of firefighting and emergency management and response.
