The students and guests were welcomed by Pulaski High School Principal Jay Altobello who called the ceremony “a testament that hard work pays off.” Altobello also went on to say, “I am so proud of this school and this community that we make being educated a priority.”

Pulaski teachers Kim Lawrence and Mary Williams were the guest speakers for the evening and shared their common story of growing up in the same town, going to the same school, working in the same districts and developing a lifelong friendship.

They also talked about Dr. William Glasser’s Quality World theory which defines the five things necessary for a quality world: survival, love and belonging, empowerment, freedom and fun. The two shared their advice for latter four needs including building lifelong friendships.

“Find that one true friend,” they said, “it may be someone sitting right next to you or someone you have yet to meet.” They also advised the students to “set your dreams, make things happen, and build a life.”

The new inductees were individually “tapped” for induction and escorted to be pinned by current members and then congratulated by both Altobello and Pulaski Superintendent Dr. Marshall Marshall.

“Rituals and traditions surround those things that are important to us,” Dr. Marshall said noting that the NHS induction ceremony serves as a perfect example of a tradition that exemplifies everything that is good about young people.
