The Sound of Music is one of the most beloved musicals of all time. Set in Austria during the late 1930’s, the musical tells the story of Maria Rainer, a postulant at Nonnberg Abbey who is sent to be governess to the Von Trapp Family. Maria befriends the mischievous Von Trapp children and develops a genuine affection for them. She questions herself as she develops feelings for the children’s widowed father, Captain Georg Von Trapp. Love, values and music combine to create a beautiful story set in World War II Europe. The final collaboration between Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II, The Sound of Music, features a magnificent score with such well-known songs as “The Sound of Music,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Edelweiss” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
