FULTON – Quirk’s Players of G. Ray Bodley High School is proud to announce that it will present the fast-paced comedy Unnecessary Farce this fall.
Performances are scheduled for October 20, 21 22 in the Bodley High School auditorium.
Curtain time is set for 7:30 p.m. each performance.
Tickets will be available at the door.
The production is rated PG-13 for mature humor and situations.
Written by veteran actor and Broadway performer Paul Slade Smith, Unnecessary Farce takes place in two adjoining rooms of an economy motel that could be found anywhere in America.
In one room a trap is set to catch an embezzling mayor.
In the other room, two of the most inept cops wait to capture the meeting on videotape.
As the story unfolds, there is confusion as to who is in which room, who is being videotaped, who has taken the money, who has hired a hit man and why a kilt-wearing, bagpipe playing Scotsman has appeared on the scene.
Starring in the Bodley High School production are GRB seniors Jeremy Herlowski as the bumbling Officer Eric Sheridan and Alysa Rosenbarker as his equally incompetent assistant, Officer Billie Dwyer.
Sophomore Sarah Fisch plays the clever accountant Karen Brown while sophomore Ean Stevenson portrays the mild-mannered and unassuming Mayor Meekly.
GRB Junior Alyssa Mt. Pleasant will portray Mayor Meekly’s wife, Mary.
Long-time Quirk’s Player member David Houck will be featured as Agent Frank, security detail supervisor for the mayor.
Senior Michael Mankiewicz will be Todd, “The Highland Hitman.”
GRB students Andrew Gilbert and Julia Cieszeski will work backstage on tech crew.
Quirk’s Players’ production of Unnecessary Farce is under the direction of Tom Briggs, theatre director at G. Ray Bodley High School and faculty advisor to Quirk’s Players.
Rob Lescarbeau, an English teacher at Bodley, is the assistant director.
Production assistants include Thomas Nami, vocal music teacher at G. Ray Bodley and Doreen Forbes, a fifth grade teacher at Fairgrieve Elementary and retired GRB physical education teacher Dave Garber.
Costumes are being designed by Debbie Ritchey of CNY Costumes.
Karen Procopio will coordinate/design wigs and hair-pieces while Natalie Lewin will coordinate props for the production.
Quirk’s Players is the student theatre troupe at G. Ray Bodley High School.
Named in memory of William Quirk, a long-time English teacher at both Fulton High School and G. Ray Bodley High School, the organization presents two main productions a year and participates in at least one annual high school drama festival.
Most recently Quirk’s Players presented the comic play What The Rabbi Saw last fall and the classic Broadway musical Oklahoma! this spring.
They also performed a cutting from The Complete Works of William Shakespeare – Abridged at SUNY Oswego’s 56th Annual High School Drama Festival in April.
